3D/4D Ultrasound

Broadway Radiology now offers 3D and 4D ultrasound scanning.  See the Information Sheets tab for more information.

CT Colonography

Broadway Radiology nows performs CT Colonography.

Sometimes called a ‘”virtual colonoscopy”, this is a new minimally-invasive test which may reduce the need for more invasive traditional colonoscopy

The main reason for performing CT Colonography is to screen for polyps and other lesions in the colon.  Some polyps may grow and turn into cancers and the goal is to detect these in their early stages before cancer has a chance to develop.

Image Access for Referrers

Palmerston North X-Ray now allows secure access to it's image database for approved referring practitioners.  See the Referrer Information tab for more details.

Radiographers and Sonographers Quality Radiology Services with Care and Respect

The Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) or Radiographers

MRTs or Radiographers (sometimes called Medical Imaging Technologists or MITs) are specially trained to perform x-rays and other radiological procedures, including CT, mammography and bone densitometry and MRI.

MRTs must complete a degree course in medical radiation technology before qualifying for registration with the Medical Radiation Technologist’s Board.  They often participate in post-graduate courses to specialise in particular areas of medical imaging, and are required to continually update their knowledge to keep informed of current practices.

MRTs are responsible for preparing patients and equipment for examinations, and obtaining the images as requested by your doctor, and they work closely with the Radiologist and other medical professionals.

Sonographers

Sonographers, sometimes called Ultrasonographers, are specially trained in performing ultrasound examinations.

Sonographers are often also trained MRTs or have a background in other areas of the health service, who have undergone post-graduate training in ultrasound.   They are required to regularly update their skills and knowledge in line with current practices.

Sonographers are responsible for performing ultrasound examinations.  They obtain the necessary images and information as requested by the referring doctor and work closely with the Radiologist to provide high quality diagnostic information.
