The Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) or Radiographers
MRTs or Radiographers (sometimes called Medical Imaging Technologists or MITs) are specially trained to perform x-rays and other radiological procedures, including CT, mammography and bone densitometry and MRI.
MRTs must complete a degree course in medical radiation technology before qualifying for registration with the Medical Radiation Technologist’s Board. They often participate in post-graduate courses to specialise in particular areas of medical imaging, and are required to continually update their knowledge to keep informed of current practices.
MRTs are responsible for preparing patients and equipment for examinations, and obtaining the images as requested by your doctor, and they work closely with the Radiologist and other medical professionals.
